June 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14  Because Productions and Slow Poke Productions have joined together to present six nights of theatre in Quinte West at the Trenton Town Hall - 1861, 55 King Street. Performance dates are June 5 to 7 and 12 to 14. Burying the Hangman, a historical drama written and performed by Richard Turtle, finished to rave revues at the Johnstown Church. The second play is Catherine Carter's Stumbling Around In The Dark, performed by Esther Parry. This one woman tour de force received kudos at the Eastern Ontario Drama League One-Act Play Festival in Kingston last November. Tickets: $15. Curtain is 8 pm.

Until May 30  OENO Gallery launches its new season with work by one of Quebec’s famous automatistes, Louis Jaque, and playful contemporary responses to his work by ceramic artist Jim Thomson and Toronto artist Franco DeFrancesca. The exhibition explores light within unexpected forms. May 3 and 4  The Quinte Quilters Guild is hosting A Bouquet of Quilts, at the Quinte Curling Club, 246 Bridge St. W. in Belleville on May 3 (10 to 6) and 4 (10 to 4). Features will include large and small bedquilts, textile artworks, elegant and casual wearables, and unusual home decor items. There will also be a number of challenge items, a Flowergram Quiz, and other special displays. May 10  The annual spring Loyalist College Pottery Show and Sale has moved to the new Loyalist College Pottery and Art Studio at the Core Centre, 223 Pinnacle St, (lower level) Belleville (former Corby Library) on May 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m..  Students and instructors will demonstrate hand-building and throwing on the wheel. May 12  The Belleville Art Association will have an art Changeover of the Gallery Show Monday, May 12, 10 to 12. The theme for this show is Artist's Choice.

May 17 to June 13  Community Technology students present In Focus on May 17 from 5 to 7 p.m.  In Focus will showcase the portfolio photography and graphic design work of senior technology students at Centennial Secondary School.  The show will run until June 13 at the Bohemian Penguin Gallery (entrance around back).  Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

May 17 to 19  Terroir Wine Celebration at the Crystal Palace will be held May 17 to 19 and will feature music and work by local artists.

May 31  On May 31, the Bath Artisans will be participating in the Doors Open Loyalist Parkway Celebrations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. John’s Hall, Church Street in Bath. Deadline June 30  The Acorn-Plantos Award for Peoples Poetry is awarded annually to a Canadian poet, based on a book published in the previous calendar year. The work should follow in the tradition of Acorn, Livesay, Purdy, Plantos and others by being accessible to all people in its use of language and image.The award is open to any living poet who is a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant. The work may be entered by the poet or the publisher. The award itself honours the poet. The award consists of a cheque for $500.00 CDN and a medallion. ND  The annual Strut For Strays Pet Festival & Trade Show will be held June 14 at east Zwicks Island Park in Belleville.  They are looking for any crafters or trades people interested in selling their wares. ND  The Kingston Sunday Antique Market is looking for artisans for the 2008 season. The revitalization of the historic market square is almost complete, and now has opportunity for artisan spaces.
