Oct. 3  Two Centuries Later, at 2:30 pm, Grand Theatre Kingston. The Kingston Symphony joins the world in helping to celebrate the 200th anniversary of two musical masters – Chopin and Schumann. Canadian pianist, Janina Fialkowska, will perform Chopin’s Fantasy on Polish Airs as well as a brand new piece from Juno Award-winning composer John Burge. Sept. 2 to 30  September is a celebration of local artist Manly MacDonald, in Galleries One, Two and Three at the John M. Parrott Art Gallery, Belleville Library.  Coinciding with the release of the book, Manly Edward MacDonald – Interpreter of Old Ontario by Charles Beale, the show will feature original works by this artist from the permanent collection, the Loyalist College Collection and private collections. Male vocalists  The Trentones are looking for male vocalists interested in four-part Barbershop style caroling at seniors homes. LITERARY

New website, www.openbookontario.com, has been launched, focusing on Ontario’s literary scene.  The site is full of fresh content, including news items, interviews and profiles, event listings, event photos and videos.  Help showcase and promote our area’s literary scene on Open Book Ontario.

Sept. and Oct.  Encaustic Painting Workshops with Andrew Csafordi - exploring and creating with beeswax, mixed media, found objects and their imagination.  The two-day workshops will begin on Saturday morning at 10 am in Andrew’s studio at his Moontide Farm, located at 54 Wilson Road just outside of Bloomfield.
