They haven't moved, but as part of the Arts Council of Northumberland's Art in Public Spaces program, they will also have works from several of their members on display this winter in the hallways and Community Boardroom of the Northumberland County building at 600 William Street in Cobourg. Jan 5 to 27 As We See It is work by six local landscape painters, Poul Thrane, Lee Mitz, Cynthia Solomon, Sandi Warren Marrow, Kim Klaver and Jan Coombs, at the John M. Deadline Jan 31 The Quinte Arts Council and the Art & Design Foundation Program of Loyalist College are mounting a Typographic Exhibit from Apr. 10 to 17. We are looking for examples of the written word - poetry, excerpts from short stories, or songs (up to 250 words) that the students can interpret and express through designing with type. Please submit work in either MS Word format .doc or .rtf. Please name your file as follows: lastname.doc. There is no entry fee and your work will be displayed at the exhibition alongside the piece, created to acknowledge the work and the artist that was the inspiration. No deadline Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward/Hastings ReStore is seeking an artist to make a donation of time, material and talent by painting a mural on the wall. (Dimensions: 30’ x 15’). The mural needs to clearly represent ReStore’s role in working towards the Habitat for Humanity vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Great appreciation goes to the volunteer willing to take on this project. Deadline May 14 Nominations are being accepted for the 2012 Quinte Arts Council Arts Recognition Awards. The QAC wants to hear about individuals, groups or businesses that have shown consistent and outstanding support for the arts in Quinte. All it takes are 250 words on why the nominee should be considered and at least two letters of support. Anyone may nominate those that have produced, supported and/or promoted the arts within the Quinte community. Previous nominees who have not received the award may be resubmitted. Past recipients have included visual artists, musicians, writers, actors, volunteers, musical and artistic directors, business leaders and corporate sponsors.
