Click here to see the homes Click here to see the mapsThe 2009 Holiday Home Tour will be truly unique. Mark the date, Thursday, November 26. Seven wonderful properties will be open to the public for viewing from 5 to 9 pm, for an incredibly low $25. All proceeds will benefit The Quinte Arts Council.
Jeff and Tracey Keary will open the door to their fantastic conversion from church to living/performance space at 116 Barley Road, just off Rednersville Road. Jeff has carried out a sympathetic cosmetic renovation to the building, which he hopes will soon open as an artist's studio and a performance venue for theatre and music. Jeff said that it would be a shame not to take advantage of the stunning acoustics and "raise up to God a glorious noise once more”. Jeff Keary is an artist/decorator/designer/carpenter and he will be decorating his own home for the event. His beautiful silk scarves and table runners will be on display.
Gord and Val House own the wonderful old school at 81 Massassauga Road, near the corner of Prince Edward Road 28. Decorated in a wild array of bright and unusual colours, this unique home features an open concept dining area and kitchen, with a fabulous view of the Bay of Quinte. It will be decora
ted by Sheila Fernley of Sheila Fernley Fine Flowers of Tweed. Sheila is thrilled to have Zellers Inc. Belleville supplying fabulous Christmas decorations and accents, featuring the new Alfred Sung line. This is Zellers’ second year sponsoring the Home Tour with product. Thanks to Manager, Marlene Wesselink and Assistant Manager Krista Berryhill, Zellers Inc. Belleville, 613-962-9100.
The former church at 95 Massassauga Road, owned by Bob Cole and Barb Broadbridge, was built in 1888. Services were held there until the 1970s. It has changed ownership three times, with each owner adding their special touch. Bob and Barb have been caregivers of the church for the past 17 years. They built a 1,000 sq. ft. addition and restored the belfry roof to its original metal. Its burgundy steeple makes the building visible from afar. This incredible old building, with its brand new addition, will be decorated by Red Barn Floral Design of Belleville.
The doors are open at the Victorian home at 126 Bridge Street East. This charming home is owned by Peter Norman and Jennifer Baird Norman. It was built in 1875 for Henry Corby Sr., who at one time owned the entire block. There are many original features in the house, such as an ornate carved plaster cornice in the dinning room, three original fireplaces in the dining room, breakfast room and master bedroom bedrooms, and an inlaid wood floor and crown mouldings in the living room. This home will be lovingly decorated by Jen Bonter of Live, Love and Laugh, together with her talented team.
Chris Pleizier and Michael Kidd welcome guests to their wonderful home at 331 Albert Street. This 1913 Arts and Crafts style home was lovingly constructed by Weir, using the finest materials available at the time. Note the massive pieces of limestone used to construct the front porch. Inside are details like the exquisite Tiffany glass windows on either side of the fireplace, solid oak trim and leaded windows, a coffered ceiling in the dining room, original hardwood floors, and a charming sleeping porch off the master bedroom. Chris calls their décor, “eclectic yard sale chic”. It will be decorated by Yvon Menard of Couture in Belleville, with his usual flair.
The yellow brick Cape Cod at 190 MacDonald Avenue is owned by Britt and Jennifer Earl. The property was severed from the original Glanmore Estate and was purchased in 1951 by Leslie Falls Reid and his wife Marjorie. They had the house built in 1952 and raised their family there. Britt and Jennifer are the second owners of this handsom, centre hall plan home. It will be decorated by Alan Nelson and Greg Windsor of Outside In Designs in Belleville.
The fabulous two-storey brick at 390 Bleecker Avenue is an exciting treat for QAC Home Tour devotees. Jeffrey Van de Kleut welcomes you to his beautiful home, built circa 1905. It features fabulous carved architectural pillars, arched doorway, ceiling medallions and curving staircase. The eating area is used as a billiards room, which serves this homeowner perfectly. Decorated by Val Paddon, Stage or Style.
Again this year there will be musicians performing live music in each home and Ackerman Hall at Albert College will be open for complimentary coffee, cider and cookies. It will be decorated by Ann McKinnon of Barbers Flowers Ltd., a fifth generation family business in downtown Belleville.
