On September 5 from 6:30 to 10 p.m., get ready for a veritable cornucopia of artistic delights.  Quinte Arts Council is presenting its fourth version of ARTEVĪNO, a celebration of art and wine, which incorporates and tantalizes all of the senses.  This event combines the region's most prominent and sought-after artists with the best that Prince Edward County wineries have to offer in an event that celebrates the taste, sound and visual splendour that is truly a reflection of the rich culture in this region.  The evening will include the presentation of the 14th annual Arts Recognition Awards where local artists and arts supporters will be honoured for the role that they play in creating and/or supporting arts and culture in our community.

The wine

There is the artistry of fine wine-making and we are offering the public a rare opportunity to be the first to enjoy the ARTEVĪNO award-winning wines chosen by our celebrity panel of judges which includes David Lawrason (Toronto Life), Rod Phillips (Ottawa Citizen), Konrad Ejbich (Wine Writer’s Circle, CBC National), Shari Darling (The Intelligencer) and Veronique Rivest (CBC French, Le Droit French, Canadian Sommelier of the Year 2007).  Save on gas and visit all of the fine wineries in Prince Edward County in one stop, including Huff Estates, The Grange of Prince Edward County, County Cider Company, Sandbanks Estate Winery, Sugarbush Vineyards, Bergeron Estates Winery, Black Prince Winery, Carmela Estates Winery, Closson Chase Vineyards, Norman Hardie Wines, Rosehall Run Vineyards, Thirty Three Vines and Oak Heights Estate Winery.

The food

Chefs from some of the region’s most popular restaurants are unleashing their creative juices to present scrumptious fare from Dinkel’s Restaurant and Courtyard, Earl & Angelo’s Steak and Seafood, Ramada Inn and Conference Centre, Capers Brasserie and Wine Bar, and Harvest.  Fifth Town Artisan cheese crafted with fresh, locally-produced goat and sheep milk will also be available.  The advantage of artisan cheese is that it is handmade in small batches and you can taste the elements of the earth, the grass, the terroir that make it unique, similar to the nose and taste of a regional wine.

The music

While you are pleasing your palette you can enjoy great jazz with the cool sounds of QAC members, Matt Ray and Tanya Verbeke.

The visual arts

QAC’s visual artist members are also participating and have donated pottery, jewelry, hand painted silk scarves, wood turnings, paintings, photography and sculptures for a silent auction.  Artists who have confirmed to date include Natalie Bohnen-Twiddy, Roger Bodley, Lynn Bartholomew, Judy Black, Sharon Bower, Marion Casson, Marilyn Coulter, Marjorie Finlay, Peggy Holcroft-Cameron, Leslie King, Florence Lennox, Joyce Robbins, Marc Bourdon, Connie Yrjola, Frantic Farms, Mark Armstrong, Caroline Shuttle, Barbara Chappelle, Stasha Novak, Marta Smith, Jesus Estevez, Barbara Wickens and Gabi Von Gans.  Long Dog Winery, Rosehall Run Vineyard and other wineries have donated wine and packages for auction, and there will be great theatre/concert packages as well.

The Arts Recognition Awards winners
