This 40-piece concert band performs music for the community in a variety of venues, throughout the year, playing a wide range of musical styles.  Open to all residents of the region, they support many worthy causes.

The Quinte Living Centre Concert Band

  • celebrated 20 years in 2006

  • welcomes a new conductor

  • welcomes amateur or professional musicians to join them

The Quinte Living Centre Concert Band celebrated its 20th anniversary earlier this year (2006), not only with a party and thank-you cake for Charlie Kammer, the band’s founder, but also by welcoming its new conductor - Ross Folkes.  Ross brings with him years of award-winning band experience, along with exciting new ideas and infectious enthusiasm.

The Quinte Living Centre Concert Band has, over the years, developed into a true multi-community band.  Members range in age from teenagers to octogenarians. They come from all areas of the Quinte Region and as far away as Madoc and Bancroft.  Some live in Belleville, others come from Napanee, Brighton, or Prince Edward County.

Did you ever play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument?  Maybe in high school?  Would you like to renew your musical career?  Why not come out to a rehearsal some Monday night and have a listen.  The band practices every Monday at 7 p.m., from September through June, at the only home it has known - the Quinte Living Centre in downtown Belleville, at 370 Front St.

Some members have relatively little musical experience and others act as mentors. All enjoy the thrill of making music together, having fun and entertaining the audiences at various concerts throughout the year.

New members are always welcome in all sections of the band – woodwind, brass and percussion.  All you need is an instrument (the band does own some instruments that it can loan when needed), enthusiasm, the willingness to practice, and commitment.

Upcoming Performances (in Belleville, ON):

• The Band is playing for the residents of the Quinte Living Centre on the evening of November the 28th.

• The Band is playing on December the 17th, at St Mathews United Church, at 2 p.m. to raise money for Christmas Sharing. Come out and enjoy Christmas music.

• A smaller number of members of the Band will play at the Library on December 20th at the Brown Bag Lunch.
