Born and raised on the eastern seaboard in the town of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, art has always been an important part of Gene's life. He received a Bachelor of Fine Art in painting and textile design from the University of Massachusetts, and a Master of Fine Art in painting and print making from the University of Cincinnati. In addition, he has studied Oriental brush painting with Hiroshi Yamamoto in Toronto. Gene has designed wallpapers and wall covering/textile collections for Schumacher, Sanitas, Gencore, International Wallcoverings, Norwall, Sunworthy and Imperial Home Décor Group. This experience embodied varying themes including contemporary, masculine, novelty, folk art, floral, and traditional designs. His work in this field afforded Gene the opportunity to further develop and refine a variety of styles and techniques with international recognition. Gene's paintings encompass a wide range of imagery with an emphasis on abstracts, color field paintings, vintage botanicals, oriental brush painting, and landscapes in a variety of media such as acrylics, guache, watercolors, inks, pencils, mixed media, and digital imaging. Currently, Gene has a home and studio in Prince Edward County, Ontario, where he continues to expand his love of art and the creative process.
