Karen Kaiser was
born in Saskatchewan in 1950. Her family moved to Kingston Ontario
where she spent her childhood. She graduated from Peterborough
Teacher’s College in 1969 then taught grades K to 3 for five years.
She attended
London’s Fanshaw College in the field of Graphic Design. Then she
worked as a Graphic artist for 11 years while pursuing her art in
her spare time.
In 1988 she
became a farmer’s wife in Belleville and was able to experiment with
many art forms in the quiet winter months. She discovered
traditional rug hooking in 2001 and it quickly became her favorite
medium to express herself.
She has succeeded
in winning the theme award three years in a row at the Ontario
Hooking Craft Guild’s Annual Meeting. She has also won awards for
Original Design and Alternative Techniques.
Karen is a member
