While she was teaching in the Greater Toronto Area, Christine
began to paint in watercolour. She found the experience so
rejuvenating, she gradually branched out into acrylics, stained
glass and now oils.
Essentially a self-taught artist, Christine has periodically taken
week-long summer courses with Pauline Hollancin and Dennis Cliff
at Fleming’s Haliburton School of the Arts; with Patricia Fairhead
and Kai-Lys McInnes at the Blue Mountain School in Collingwood;
and with Richard Edwards at the La Cloche Country Art School in
Whitefish Falls.
Her watercolours, mixed media and stained glass hang in private
homes in Caledon East, Orangeville, St. Catharines, North Bay,
Timmins, Ottawa, Peterborough, Marmora, and Kelowna B.C.
Christine’s work has been shown in The Caledon Inn in Caledon
East, The Underground Gallery in Timmins, the General Hospital and
Opera House in Orangeville, The Essence of Art Gallery in
Marmora, in West Wings and the Public Library in Stirling, in the
Quinte Waters juried show in Belleville, and in the Off the Wall
show in The Peterborough Art Gallery
Much of Christine’s work captures images within images. Doing
watercolour led her to see how easily one form can grow inside
another. She is constantly seeing the unity of life, the
connections between life forms and life histories. Her goal is
that others will see their connectedness to nature and to society.
In 2007 Christine opened a small framing business at Studio
Marmora. She gives watercolour workshops May to November.
