Girl with a Locket

Enid was born and educated in England before emigrating to Ontario, Canada.   A career in banking, started in Ontario, was put on the back burner after her marriage to John.  They travelled for over a year through the United States, The Cayman Islands and Costa Rica.

Back in Ontario Enid resumed her banking career which saw her transferred to Calgary, Alberta as Bank Manager in the eighties where together with her husband they lived until they decided to return once again to Europe to travel for a few years choosing Spain as their base to live.

Enid was interested in art from an early age, which she credits to her father who encouraged her; he being an accomplished artist himself.   It was this inspiration that gave Enid a passion for drawing which she has continued to pursue.  It was while living in Spain that she became interested in painting. During this period Enid was a member of the Nerja Radio Players on the Costa Del Sol and modelled for several years for the Fashion Designer Karina Dahl.

It was always their intention to come back home to Canada and, upon returning in the early 90's, they settled temporarily in Calgary while building a home in the picture postcard Shuswap area of British Columbia where they resided for several years. There Enid exhibited in many Art Shows, including the Salmon Arm Art Gallery, the Okanagan Mainline Regional Arts Council Juried Art Exhibition in Kamloops, a solo two-month show in Celista Library, and she was a regular exhibitor with the Anglemont Art Group during their annual shows each August.

In 2002 they were drawn back to Ontario where Enid joined the Belleville Art Association and took out membership with the Prince Edward County Arts Council.  Of late she has exhibited with the Belleville Art Association, also in "A Taste of the County" at the Waring House and the Quinte Arts Council preview to the Stirling Festival of Fine Arts as well as the Festival itself.   Enid is scheduled to be the artist of the month in Barratt's Office Pro in Belleville in October.

Enid’s preference in art is portraiture which is created in either oils, acrylic, graphite (and of late) she is dabbling with pastels. “Faces are fascinating and with every face being unique you have an infinite variety.” She also enjoys painting still-life and landscapes to add to the variety.  New challenges are exciting and while Enid enjoys painting and capturing the expressions of children, with her love of painting she is open to accepting portrait commissions generally.

Enid's art hangs in private and corporate collections in England, Canada and in the new wing addition of Bancroft Hospital.
